JILI Super Ace: get to know every button slowly before your first spin

If today is your first day and someone told you "open Super Ace and have a look", this page is for you. Super Ace is a card-themed slot from the game provider JILI: A, K, Q, J and card suits spin on the reels. We won't rush. We'll explain each part of the screen, each button and each feature one by one, so you know what's about to happen before you press your first spin. Remember, this is an unofficial guide. What will you see on screen when you open Super Ace?

After the game opens, don't tap anything at first. Just look at the screen. The big box in the middle is the reels. Super Ace has five reels (vertical columns) and four rows, so you see twenty cards at once. The game is built with mobile in mind, so it usually looks fine with your phone held upright.

• Combo multiplier bar: usually above the reels, a few multiplier boxes sit side by side and one is lit. At the start of a spin the smallest box is lit.

For first-day beginners: check these five things before you spin

1. Open the help or paytable. Tap the menu and read the paytable. How much each card pays, what the scatter looks like, which reels golden cards appear on: it's all there. If you want to know the RTP or maximum win, check the game's help/paytable too. This page does not guess any number.
2. Lower the bet to the minimum. Press minus as far as it goes. This is the amount each spin will take. Whatever the lobby and the game show as the minimum and maximum bet is final.
3. Keep auto and turbo off. On day one, press every spin yourself so you see what happened each time. With auto on, it becomes hard to notice how your money is going down.
4. Write down your starting balance. If you know the starting amount, you'll easily see later how much you spent.

How are wins counted in Super Ace?

Super Ace has no drawn paylines like a classic slot. It's a "1024 ways" game. In simple terms: you win when the same card lands on at least three adjacent reels, starting from the first reel on the left. The card can be in any row of each reel; they don't all need to be in the same row. How much each card pays is on the paytable.

Then comes the game's main feature: elimination. When there's a win, the winning cards are removed from the reels and new cards drop from above to fill the gaps. If the new cards match, that's another win and another removal. So one spin can produce several wins, or none at all.

After each consecutive elimination, the combo multiplier at the top moves up one step, and wins are multiplied by that step's value. When a new spin starts, it goes back to the first step. The values of the steps are written on the paytable. An important point for beginners: seeing a big multiplier lit does not mean something big is coming on the next spin. Every spin is separate.

What do golden cards and jokers actually do?

As you play, you'll see some cards in gold. These are golden cards, and they only appear on the middle three reels: the second, third and fourth. A golden card counts towards wins like a normal card. The difference is that after a win it doesn't disappear; it flips over and becomes a joker.

A joker is a wild: it stands in for other cards except the scatter to help make wins. There are two kinds: the little joker acts as a wild only in its own spot, while the big joker can also turn a few random spots on other reels into jokers. Which one appears and when is completely random; there is no way to tell in advance.

On day one, just learn this much: if a golden card is part of a win, it becomes a joker in the next step. You don't need to memorise more than that.

When do free games come in Super Ace?

There's a special symbol on the reels: the scatter. When three or more scatters land together, the free game starts. In the free game, spins are not taken from your balance, and the rules are the same as the main game, except the combo multiplier steps are bigger than in the main game. If scatters land again during the free game, extra free spins are added. How many free spins you get and the value of each step are on the game's help/paytable.

Let's clear up one myth: "No scatter for ages, so it must come now." There's no such rule. Nobody can say when the free game will come. How do you start with a small balance?
